Jeff Skinner shipped to St-Hubert

🚨 TRADE ALERT 🚨

TEXAS TRADES:

  • Jeff Skinner [ranked 162nd]
  • 12th round pick

ST-HUBERT TRADES:

  • 10th round pick

Texas finally gets rid of Skinner and frees up a roster spot with this transaction. They don’t get much back, but there had previously been multiple attempts to trade him after his disappointing start to the season (14 pts in 24 GP). The Buffalo Sabres forward had a career year in 2018-19, scoring 40 goals. It also happened to be his contract year, earning himself a lucrative long-term deal this past summer.

The Gutters had selected Skinner in the 4th round (38th overall) in this year’s main draft. The Sabres sniper is the second drafted player GM Chartré has given up on, along with Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk who was dropped earlier this season.

I like this deal for the Jets because there is literally no risk involved (the 12th round pick could be as good a pick as the 10th rounder) and a potentially high reward. If Skinner improves even just slightly, it will be considered a hands down win for GM Manseau.
